The National Galleries, part of the National Museums in Berlin, presented not one, but two exhibitions in celebration of Gerhard Richter’s 80th birthday in 2012. The New National Gallery invited visitors to a retrospective of five decades of Richter’s works, titled Panorama, while the Old National Gallery presented his renowned cycle 18 October 1977. Stan Hema worked with Gerhard Richter personally on the communication concept and design for both events. In just three months, 380,000 people visited the exhibitions of Germany’s most influential living artist.
