The background to the music
With its digital concert hall, its own record label and a record shop, the Berliner Philharmoniker has been more than an orchestra for several years. Flexible, easy-to-update web design is intended to provide perfect pitch for this online offering. Stan Hema has developed an unmistakable visual language for that purpose.
The Berliner Philharmoniker was founded in 1882 and is now one of the best-known orchestras in the world. After Oliver Helfrich and Cecilia Martín developed a new brand identity for the orchestra in 2021, Stan Hema transferred the branding into the digital world and brought it to life there in a user-friendly way.

Addressing new target groups and improving the user experience were focal points of the website redesign. To this end, supposed contradictions such as the interplay between aesthetics and accessibility were resolved. Two other focus areas were the functionality of the integrated web store (simple concert search and ticket purchase) and the possibility of storytelling with articles, interviews and magazine-like content.
Throughout the project, the maxim ‘Develop together, grow together’ was at the forefront of the minds of all participants. Stan Hema’s close and agile collaboration with the team from the Berliner Philharmoniker and the developers of Skygate was the driving force behind the development. The coordination of wireframes, flows and layouts was carried out via Figma design files, from which the developers could read all the specifications. The result is elegant digital branding of the highest quality, the economic impact of which quickly became clear.
